How to work with me

There is no single right way to begin. Some people arrive with a clear goal, others simply know that their home, their workspace or their digital life no longer makes the day easier.

Petra Pupić working with a client during home decluttering and organization in Zagreb

I work with people for whom the space has become a weight — through everyday clutter, or through larger changes such as a move, a renovation or the start of a new chapter.

We choose the form of collaboration that suits your situation, your energy and your needs.

I am based in Zagreb and work with clients across Croatia — in your home, or online.

Everything starts with a free 20-minute call. After that, most people work with me through a one-hour consultation or through one of the three packages described below. If you are unsure which one fits, the call is there to clarify it, with no obligation.

The one-hour consultation

Assessing storage space during a one-hour organization consultation in Zagreb

A flexible starting point — or a final check

A one-hour consultation is a standalone service that gives you clarity and direction — whether you are only beginning to think about organizing your space, or you already have a plan and want professional input before you act on it.

Some clients book it at the start, to get their bearings and set priorities. Others book it at the end, to confirm that a layout or a decision will really work in everyday use.

During the session we focus on one space or one situation and go through it together, practically and efficiently.

How clients usually use the hour

Clients most often book a one-hour session so that we can:

  • get an overview of the whole space before deciding on further steps
  • review an existing plan — a kitchen, a wardrobe or a storage layout drawn up with a carpenter or a designer
  • walk through the home together and find storage opportunities and problem areas
  • agree how to organize a space you plan to tackle on your own

What to expect

The session takes place in your home or online, depending on your situation.

You can expect:

  • clear, honest feedback on your space, your belongings and the way you live
  • practical suggestions you can carry out on your own
  • guidance on storage solutions, products or the right professional when that helps
  • a fresh perspective that brings clarity and confidence

Depending on what you need, the hour can focus on one area or cover a broader walk-through. In that case we set the priorities and outline the possible next steps, and you decide freely whether to continue.

This consultation can stand on its own, or become the first step of deeper work. The choice is always yours.

The consultation is not a step you have to take first. If you already know the scope of your project, you are welcome to begin with a package straight away.

Three packages, by the size of the project

We work by category, not by room

All clothing gathered in one place — category-based decluttering with the KonMari method in Zagreb

Decluttering by category is the foundation of my work and the reason the order lasts — at home and at work.

Instead of going room by room, we work by category. Everything belonging to one category — all your clothes, for example — is gathered in one place before a single decision is made.

Seeing the whole category at once creates clarity. Together we go through every item and decide what stays and what you can release, based on what supports your life or your work today.

This brings awareness, confidence and calm decision-making, especially in categories that have become heavy or emotionally charged.

Only when the category is complete do we turn to the space itself.

We look at where that category used to be kept, whether those places still make sense, or whether it belongs somewhere else entirely. Storage is then improved with intention — by rethinking the layout, adding shelves or drawers, introducing organizers or simplifying what already exists — always around what you actually own, and arranged to follow the way you move through the day.

Who this suits

Decluttering by category suits you if one category, or a small group of related ones, is giving you trouble — rather than your whole home or office.

Most people do not feel the weight everywhere. One category becomes heavy, crowded or hard to keep up with — books that have outgrown their shelves, papers that keep piling up, clothes that no longer match the life you live.

First the items, then the space

However many categories we work through, the order stays the same: first the items, then the space. Shelves, drawers and organizers are chosen to hold what you truly own, instead of items being squeezed into storage decided in advance.

If you are not sure whether one category or several would serve you better, a free 20-minute call helps clarify it.

Package 1 — one category

Roughly two to fifteen hours of work, spread over several days. Zero waste guidance is included.

Who it suits

This suits you if a single category is a constant source of frustration and mental load:

  • clothes that no longer suit your lifestyle or your wardrobe
  • books and reference materials that have outgrown their space
  • papers and documents that have got out of hand
  • the kitchen and everything kept in it
  • the bathroom and everything kept in it
  • office supplies or everyday items that interrupt your workflow

Why one category goes deep

By focusing on a single category we can go deep — clarifying what truly belongs there, how it is used, and how to store it so it stays visible, within reach and easy to maintain.

This works equally well in private homes, home offices and professional workspaces.

Photographs, books, papers and textiles gathered together — decluttering across several related categories

Package 2 — two or more categories

Roughly fifteen to fifty hours of work. Zero waste guidance is included.

When two or more

Some categories naturally overlap — clothes and accessories, papers and digital work materials, cleaning supplies and utility items. Working through two or more of them at once gives better continuity and more coherent systems.

Clients usually choose this when:

  • the clutter affects several related areas of a home or office
  • a decision in one category changes what makes sense in another
  • everyday routines or work processes need clearer structure and flow

What several categories reveal

As we move through several categories, patterns start to show — how you use things, where clutter gathers, and what storage you really need. Storage solutions are then refined to support both your current routines and the direction your life or your work is heading.

Zero waste guidance runs through the whole process — choosing fewer and more sustainable items, and using the same product in several situations. That usually leads to simpler systems, less accumulation over time, and lower household or workplace spending.

Package 3 — the full KonMari® process

We go through the whole space — the entire home or the entire workspace — and through every single category, from clothes to sentimental items. Fifty hours of work and more. Zero waste guidance is included.

A complete transformation of the whole home or workspace, category by category

The full KonMari® process is a journey through absolutely everything you own, category by category, and it creates order and clarity that last.

My work is informed by the KonMari® method, but this is not about rigid rules or following a method for its own sake. It is about resolving clutter at the root — understanding what you own, what truly supports your life or your work, and how to let go of what no longer needs to stay. The results are always practical and livable.

This is not a quick reorganization. It is a structured, deeply intentional process that brings long-term change — in your space, and in the way you relate to your belongings and to what you buy.

How the process unfolds

We move through all your belongings by category, not by room, starting with the simpler decisions and moving gradually toward the emotionally harder ones. The order matters: it builds clarity, confidence and trust in your own judgement — and those skills usually reach well beyond your space.

As in all my work, we begin with the items themselves. Each category is gathered together and reviewed as a whole, so that the decisions about what stays are clear and conscious.

Only once every category is complete do we turn fully to storage and spatial organization. The systems are then built around what you actually own and how you move through your day, so that the space supports your real routines.

What makes the full process different

Working through every category lets patterns surface that stay invisible when we take one area at a time.

As the process unfolds, clients begin to notice:

  • the reasons that keep coming back when they keep or release something
  • their own habits around buying and accumulating
  • the connection between the clutter in the space and the weight they carry in their head

At the same time, going through everything as a whole makes it possible to design the space as one connected system rather than a set of separately organized areas.

When one category is finished, its most logical home often turns out to be a place something else used to occupy. That sets off a chain reaction: one category moves, the next one opens up, and new possibilities appear. One decision leads to the next.

Clients are often surprised by where things finally belong. A kitchen drawer can turn out to be the ideal place for office supplies when the work corner sits right beside the counter. Solutions like that are rarely obvious at the beginning — they appear once everything has been seen.

Because we see the whole picture, storage can be designed as a whole too — supporting not only individual rooms but the flow of the day across the entire home or workspace. Things end up where they are most intuitive to reach, based on how you really move and where the different parts of your life overlap.

This is why the full process brings the most effective and the most lasting result.

Most clients describe a deep sense of relief. Decisions become easier, the systems feel natural instead of imposed, and the space begins to support them.

When the full process is the right choice

The full KonMari® process is the right choice when your space has quietly turned from a support into an obstacle.

Most clients reach that point when they notice that everyday tasks take longer than they should, that decisions feel heavier, and that simple routines demand more effort than they are worth. At that stage one category at a time is no longer enough — what helps is a clear, structured reset of the whole system.

It is also often chosen during larger life transitions:

  • moving, downsizing, or two households becoming one
  • renovating or redesigning a home or a workspace
  • changes in the family, in work, or in everyday responsibilities

In moments like these, going through every category brings clarity and steadiness — it helps you decide, on purpose, what belongs in the next chapter.

It is also the right choice for anyone who simply feels ready for a complete reset — a wish to simplify, to live or work more consciously, or to finally resolve clutter that has been gathering for years.

Instead of easing the symptoms, this process reaches the root — it creates a space that supports how you live, move and decide every day.

What working online looks like

I recommend her! Petra is excellent, outstanding, she helped me enormously, and we did all of it online. She is patient, she explains beautifully, she talks things through, she is warm, gentle, caring and full of understanding. I am proud of her and of myself, because today is day 110 and I am still keeping everything this tidy. Petra, thank you so very much!

Vesna S. Online home organization

I spent years trying unsuccessfully to complete the KonMari process in my home. No matter how hard I worked, I just couldn't seem to finish such a huge task! That all changed when I began working with Root of Joy. We met virtually since I live overseas, which made scheduling surprisingly easy and more flexible than we could have been in person.

Petra held me accountable and gave unwavering support as I made tough decisions about my belongings. She knew the best order in which to tackle each category, and she taught me storage principles so well that I was able to organize some really tricky spaces without her help. Petra never made a decision for me, but guided me in evaluating for myself what sparked joy and where in my home my cherished items belong.

I can now officially say that every item in my house has been thoughtfully chosen because it makes my life more beautiful or functional. Each of those items has a place where it belongs and is easy to put away. My home is now peaceful, joyful, and vibrant in a way I have never felt before, all thanks to Petra's expertise. Thank you, Petra, for helping transform my home!

Frequently asked questions

What happens during the free 20-minute call?

We talk about your space, your situation and what feels most difficult right now. No obligation and no pressure — just a chance to see whether working together makes sense for you, and which approach would suit your situation best.

Do I need to prepare anything before we start?

No preparation is needed. You do not need to tidy up beforehand, sort anything or have a plan. All that matters is that you are ready to begin.

Can we work online?

Yes, all of it. Everything I do in person can be done online just as well. The only thing I need is your camera on, so that I can see the space and your belongings while we go through them together.

How often do we meet?

It depends on the form of support you choose and on your pace. Some clients prefer to work intensively over a short period, others prefer to go gradually. We always adapt to your schedule and your energy.

What if I feel overwhelmed during the process?

That is completely normal and expected. Part of my work is supporting you through those moments — without pressure, without judgment and without rushing. We always move at your pace.

Do you work with couples and families?

Yes. Many clients go through the process as a household — with a partner, family or housemates. How we approach shared spaces always depends on what everyone is comfortable with. If a partner or a family member prefers not to take part, their belongings stay untouched without their agreement. We work around them, and once we are done the client goes through the shared items together with the household, so that decisions about what stays and where it lives are made with everyone's input.
