Memories that carry a story
The sixth workshop of the series Free your space, free yourself — memories without the weight, through the KonMari® method: emotional decluttering and consciously keeping what matters.
Memories without the weight, through the KonMari® method: emotional decluttering and consciously keeping what matters
Photographs, letters, gifts you no longer use and still cannot part with. A feeling of guilt, or the fear of forgetting people and moments?
This workshop is the gentlest part of the Japanese KonMari® method — emotional decluttering that honours your past and at the same time lifts the weight, so you can live more fully in the present.
Sentimental items are the hardest to declutter. We move through the emotional side of the method slowly, with respect and clarity. This is the sixth and final theme of the series, and the workshop also stands on its own.
What you discover at the workshop
By the end of the workshop you know:
- how to approach letters, photographs, souvenirs, gifts and personal documents
- how to gently release memories that no longer serve you, without guilt and without fear
- how to bring the KonMari process to a close, with a sense of peace and clarity
- what to do when order matters more to you than to the rest of the household
- how to apply the KonMari® method to personal and working relationships
What the workshop looks like
Each workshop has a theory part, practical examples and time for questions and answers. It runs for about two hours, with a warm drink and a snack.
Attendance is limited to fifteen people, because in a smaller group everyone gets to ask their question and describe their own space. Anyone who wants to go further can arrange an individual session afterwards.
The series of six workshops
You can attend this workshop on its own or as part of the series of six thematic KonMari® workshops. Each one takes a different part of the home, the workspace and everyday life, and together they follow the order of the method:
- When space becomes yours — the foundations and the home as a whole
- Clothes that carry you — clothing and the wardrobe
- Pages as a trace of time — books and papers
- A kitchen that feeds the soul — the kitchen and everything in it
- The maze of everyday life — komono, the miscellaneous items
- Memories that carry a story — sentimental items (this workshop)
